Monday, 6 a.m.
Time to get up for work…YAY! First thing’s first, you have to fight the alarm clock for 20 minutes to get just a few more winks of sleep. When you’re frustrated enough at the alarm you quickly rush to get ready then make a mad dash to the kitchen for a quick bite and maybe a few seconds to say by to the family.
Now the fun really begins! All around the country MILLIONS of people have the same place to go to as you…WORK! Now you must fight horrible traffic, traffic lights, bad drivers and bad weather. After an hour or two of this, you make it to work 10 minutes late and guess who’s there to greet you? That’s right, the BOSS, who warmly greets you with “You’re ten minutes late. Where were you? Get to work now!”. The boss quickly turns his back to you before you can get a word out in your defense. What a great way to start the week right?
Several hours pass and it’s finally lunch time. Great, now you can eat and relax for a short hour. Unfortunately a relaxing break isn’t possible since so many folks are also on lunch break, therefore you must fight more traffic, crowds, lines, etc. With the last few minutes you have to quickly inhale your meal, you rush back to the office before being considered “tardy” (remember “tardy” like when were little kids in school?). Back to the grind for a few more hours.
The work day is almost over as 5 o’clock approaches. Get ready for fun of rush hour traffic. The frustration of the days events compounded with rush hour traffic takes it’s toll on you. When you finally arrive home a couple of hours later, you have dinner with the family (assuming they waited for you). With just a couple of hours of free time you either pay bills, run errands, do laundry, etc. Then you stop and ask yourself “What happened to family time? Why am I doing this?”
Just before you get to bed you look at the clock and realize that the day has left you and you say to yourself “Wow, it’s only Monday. Four more days of this.” The lights go out and sleep begins.
